Congress leader S Rajesh Kumar was interrupted and corrected by Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar during his oath-taking as minister on Thursday.

During the ceremony at Lok Bhavan in Chennai, Arlekar asked Kumar to stick to the script as the newly-elected legislator suddenly hailed Congress leaders Kamaraj, Rajiv Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

The Governor spontaneously said: "That is not part of your oath". An official also approached Kumar and pointed at the written statement placed in front of him after which he completed the oath.

The Congress legislature party leader representing Killiyoor constituency, who is now part of the Vijay-led TVK government, was among the 23 new ministers inducted on Thursday.

Minutes later, TVK legislator from Salem South, A Vijay Tamilan Parthiban, after taking the oath as a minister, hailed party leader and Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, present on the dais, saying "vaazhga thalaivar, valarga Tamil" (long live the leader, may Tamil prosper)".

TVK member from Sriperumbudur, Thennarasu, concluded his oath as a minister by saying he would remain loyal to the party leader and the party.
