<p>Hyderabad, DHNS: Revenue officials are having a tough time taking up a survey of lands to establish a multipurpose industrial park in the chief minister <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/revanth-reddy">Revanth Reddy</a>'s home assembly segment, Kodangal, as villagers from Lagacharla, Rotibandathanda, and Pulicherla have been protesting the move.</p><p>Lagacharla was in the news last year as its villagers chased away the district collector who had visited them to discuss land acquisition to set up a pharma cluster. </p><p>After facing stiff resistance from the villagers, The government changed the proposal from a pharma cluster to an industrial park. The government had also filed cases against a few Lagacharla farmers last year for alleged attack on the Vikarabad district collector and other senior government officials. On Friday, revenue teams went to Lagacharla and tried to survey under heavy police deployment. </p><p>Tension prevailed for some time as villagers, including women and the elderly, protested the revenue teams and attempted to stop them. They also carried placards protesting the land acquisition.</p><p>Lagacharla falls under the <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/telangana/telangana-congress-issues-show-cause-notice-to-mlc-teenmaar-mallanna-3393404">constituency of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy</a>-Kodangal, and the protests by farmers have kicked up a fierce political storm. </p><p>Interestingly, the government issued another notification to acquire land in Lagacharla for a multipurpose industrial park, as a few locals showed interest in giving up their land for any industry other than a pollution-causing pharmaceutical company.</p><p>The government initially issued a notification for the acquisition of 632 acres of land belonging to Lagacharla. </p><p>This notification pertained to land owned by around 580 farmers. In response to the protests, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the establishment of an industrial corridor.</p>
