<p>Hyderabad: Both Chief Ministers of the Telugu states - A Revanth Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu - are busy attending the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos besides meeting industrialists and entrepreneurs.</p><p>On Tuesday, Telangana signed an MoU with consumer products giant Unilever, which will establish a palm oil manufacturing unit in Kamareddy.</p><p>Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu delivered an address at a special session of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) on green industrialisation and also met the ArcelorMittal Group chairman, L N Mittal. The ArcelorMittal Group will be setting up a steel plant in Anakapalle, Andhra Pradesh.</p><p>In a major breakthrough, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy convinced Unilever CEO Hein Schumacher during a hard sell, to set up two manufacturing units in the state. Unilever, a global FMCG major, which operates as Hindustan Unilever in India, has so far had no significant presence in Telangana.</p><p>Along with IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and officials of the Telangana Rising delegation, Revanth Reddy showcased the extraordinary locational advantages, where the land-locked state can actually be the gateway and bridge to several states in the south of India, and other states in the east, west and central India during their meeting with Hein Schumacher and Willem Uijen, the Chief Supply Chain Officer of Unilever, while discussing investments and business opportunities for the company in the state. </p><p>During the meeting with the Unilever CEO and Global Supply Chain Officer, he spoke about the advantages in supply chain and logistics manufacturing that Telangana would provide, besides additional strengths and factors of appeal like a huge consumption-driven market, peerless ease of doing business, progressive policies benchmarked to the best in the world and the extraordinary vision for 2050 - TelanganaRising.</p><p>While Unilever has multiple manufacturing sites in India, its presence in Telangana has so far been near negligible.</p><p>Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, during the interaction, requested the Unilever team to consider those lines of activity which are showing high growth in India, and to locate such domains in India.</p><p>Responding with great alacrity and spontaneity, the Unilever CEO announced that they would locate a palm oil facility and refining unit in Telangana. Since many products of Unilever are sold in liquid form in bottles with huge quantities being imported currently, it would be a huge fill-up to Telangana's manufacturing thrust to have the Unilever unit in the state.</p><p><strong>Naidu highlights commitment to make Andhra a clean energy hub</strong></p><p>Highlighting his longstanding partnership with CII since 1995, Chandrababu Naidu reflected on his journey of driving transformative change, citing Hyderabad’s emergence as one of India’s most livable cities and a global hub for IT, healthcare, and innovation as proof of concept.</p><p>"We have a demographic advantage, and Indian entrepreneurs, especially those from Andhra Pradesh, are excelling globally, contributing to the world economy. India is poised to lead, with <em>Bloomberg</em> predicting it will provide incremental GDP growth by 2027. From 2028 onward, it will be the Indian era," he remarked.</p><p>He highlighted his administration's ambitious plans to transform the state into a global hub for green energy and green hydrogen, setting a precedent for sustainable development and energy reforms.</p><p>He reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Andhra Pradesh into a clean energy hub, with a mission-mode approach to achieving sustainability goals. Key initiatives include a massive $115 billion investment in the fuel sector to produce 500 MW of renewable energy and 500 million metric tons (MMT) of green energy by 2030, contributing 30 per cent to the national target.</p><p>Highlighting collaborations, the Chief Minister mentioned the Prime Minister's recent visit to lay the foundation stone for a $21 billion green hydrogen project, a joint venture poised to accelerate India’s renewable energy ambitions.
