Ramping up its social media attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday launched a video series Pradhan Mantri Hisab Do (Prime Minister show your report card).
The first video of the series provides a comparison between the Centre’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and the state government’s a Sabuj Sathi, both are woman’s education scheme.
The video, slightly longer than a minute, shows a girl from Rewri in Haryana, named Priya Singh, who had to drop out of the school due to the failure of the Centre’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
Describing her ordeal in the video, Priya says that nearest school from her home is at least 14 km away and hence she had to discontinue her studies.
Priya is also seen saying that although the prime minister keeps talking about educating girls there is not even one school in her village.
Her version ends with a question for the prime minister “ have you kept any hisab (account) of this?”
The second part of the video shows Jhumur Mukherjee, a housewife from the rural areas of West Bengal’s Hooghly district.
She happily narrates how her daughter is regularly going to school with a bicycle provided to her through the state government’s Sabuj Sathi scheme.
