<p>The Tamil Nadu Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a Bill to set up Heritage Commission to protect buildings or premises, which do not come under Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958, and its corresponding state Act.<br /><br /></p>.<p>“The Tamil Nadu Heritage Commission (TNHC), will advise the government in matters relating to restoration, preservation of heritage buildings and development and engineering operations (at sites or areas) which are likely to affect any heritage building,” said the objects of the Bill, moved in the House by N R Sivapathi, State Minister for School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare.<br /><br />The TNHC will have 16 members, who will be nominated by the government. The panel will include the Commissioner of Archaeology, Chennai, experts in architecture and planning, engineering and archaeology, besides a representative from the INTACH, according to the provisions of the Bill.<br /><br /><br /></p>
