<p>Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) president <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/akhilesh-yadav-questions-bjp-over-foreign-funds-calls-fcra-amendment-control-tactic-3951868">Akhilesh Yadav</a> on Thursday accused the Election Commission (EC) of trying to ‘influence’ assembly polls in the poll bound states by ‘working’ with the BJP.</p><p>Speaking to reporters here, Akhilesh said that the EC had transferred officials on a large scale in West Bengal but it had not acted against the officials who, he alleged, committed irregularities in the assembly by-polls in Uttar Pradesh.</p><p>‘’Many senior officials including chief secretary and DGP were shunted out in Bengal…we did not see such large scale transfers in UP assembly polls in 2022,’’ he added.</p><p>‘’The EC, despite our repeated complaints, did not act against the officials in UP who acted as BJP agents in the assembly polls,’’ Akhilesh said.</p>.Fierce contest for downfall between rupee and BJP's image: Akhilesh Yadav.<p>He said that the BJP election machinery would shift its focus to UP, where assembly polls were due next year, after the conclusion of polls in Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry. ‘’We can clearly see that EC and BJP are working together in the poll bound states,’’ he claimed.</p><p>The SP leader asked his party workers to be on the alert in UP and work for ‘ousting’ the saffron party in the next elections.</p><p>Akhilesh also referred to the alleged scarcity of cooking gas, fertilisers and fuel and their rising prices and said that the BJP government had failed miserably on all fronts.</p><p>He also accused the BJP of trying to take credit of the schemes launched during the tenure of the SP in the state.</p>
