Lucknow University teacher detained for offering to leak exam paper to female student in exchange for ‘favours’; audio leaked

Lucknow: A teacher at a prestigious University here was detained by the police on Saturday after allegedly offering to leak exam papers to a girl student in exchange for ‘favours’.

According to the police sources, the teacher, identified as Paramjeet Singh, an assistant professor in the Department of Zoology at University of Lucknow, made this offer while speaking to a girl, a student of B.Sc, over phone on Friday.

An audio clip, purportedly containing the conversation between the two, later went viral on social media.

‘’Darling tumhare liye paper out kara diya hai’’ (I have leaked the paper for you), the teacher is heard telling the girl.

The victim lodged a complaint with the University authorities and also submitted the audio clip, sources said. A police complaint was later lodged by the University’s Controller of Examinations after which the teacher was detained.

During the alleged call, the teacher also tried to exert pressure on the girl into meeting him and promised her ‘academic benefits’, even as the girl expressed her inability to comply with his demands.

A group of students belonging to the ABVP and Samajwadi Chatra Sabha later held a demonstration in front of the Proctor office demanding stern action against the teacher. The students also smeared black ink on the face of the teacher when the latter arrived there to explain his side of the story.

He claimed that he had been the victim of a conspiracy and denied the charges.
