'Those shedding tears for Iran should go and fight there': UP cop warns action against those who raise slogans during ‘namaz’

Lucknow: After an Uttar Pradesh police officer made headlines over his remarks that Muslims should remain indoors on Holi if they think colours affect their religion, a remark by another UP cop that ‘those beating chest in support of Iran, should go there and fight’ is now making the rounds.

‘’Jin logon ko Iran aur Israel, America ke yuddh se jyada pareshani ho rahi hai wey jahaj ka ticket katayen aur Iran jakar unki taraf se ladai laden lekin agar do deshon ke jhagre ki aad mein hamare desh ki kanoon vyawastha kharab ki to police bahut badhia wala ilaj karegi,’’ (Those who are perturbed over Iran war, should board a plane and go there and fight for it but if anyone tries to disturb the law and order situation in our country then the police will give them good treatment), Sambhal circle officer Kuldeep Kumar told a peace committee meeting with the Muslim leaders ahead of the forthcoming Eid festival and the special ‘Juma’ prayers.

Kumar warned that strict action would be taken against those who raise slogans during ‘namaz’ in support of or against any country. He added those wearing black badges to register protest will also be seen as breaking the law.

He also said that ‘namaz’ would be allowed only inside the mosques and not on roads. ‘’We will book anyone found to be offering prayers on the road and send him to jail,’’ he added.

A video of the cop making the purported remarks has gone viral on social media.

During a similar meeting before Holi at Sambhal last year, the then circle officer Anuj Kumar had asked the Muslims to remain indoors if they thought colours affected their faith.
