'You are already naked, why need to strip': PM Modi lambasts Congress for 'shirtless protest' at AI summit

Luknow: Prime minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Congress over ‘shirtless’ protest by its workers during the recent AI Summit in Delhi saying that the ‘oldest’ party of the country was ‘already naked’ and that there was no need to ‘strip’.

‘’Main Congress walon se poochta hoon Desh to janta hai ki aap pahle se hi nange ho, phir kapde utarne ko jaroorat kyn padi’’ (I ask the Congress leaders-the country knows that you are already naked then why was there the need to strip?) Modi said while addressing a public meeting after flagging off Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat in Meerut.

‘’Whatever Congress leaders did there (AI Summit) shows how bankrupt the oldest party of the country has become ideologically,’’ he said.

The prime minister also referred to the disruptions in the Parliament and blamed the Congress for the same, saying ‘’you (Congress leaders) can’t become the prime minister of the country by sending your women MPs to capture the seat’’.

‘’Have you (Congress) become so hollow that you are sending mothers and sisters for this purpose?,’’ he said, adding that Congress had become a ‘burden’ for the country.

Modi said that he was happy to see that the alliance partners of the Congress had shown the courage to condemn the Delhi incident. ‘’I thank them (Congress’ alliance partners) for this,’’ he added.

He said that the AI Summit was not a BJP event. ‘’It was an event of the nation but Congress crossed all boundaries of decency. Today the entire country is shaming the Congress for this act,’’ he said.

Modi said that there were some political parties who were not able to ‘digest’ India’s success and were trying to tarnish the image of the country in the world.
