Pakistan PM doesn't own a car, saves half his annual salary

He doesn't own a car and managed to save over half of his annual salary, which his is only source of income.

Gilani's declared property remained almost unchanged during 2009-10 and saved over half a million rupees from his annual salary of less than Rs.1 million, according to statements of assets and liabilities of members of the National Assembly submitted to the Election Commission.

The daily Dawn reported that Gilani has cited his salary as the only source of income.  The prime minister's statement shows that out of his net annual salary of Rs.971,340, his net saving during the year was Rs.571,340. The domestic expenses were Rs.400,000.

The value of his assets in 2008-09 was Rs.18.9 million, which went up to Rs.19.47 million in 2009-10. Gilani also does not own a car.

The statement has typograhical errors which say Gilani is in possession of 200 tola gold "armaments".

Noor Alam Khan of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) appears to be the richest lawmaker with a net worth of assets valued over Rs.3.5 billion.  He has Rs.1.6 million in his bank account. He also has jewellery weighing 200 tolas, which is worth millions of rupees.
