JD(S) announces first list of names for ULB polls

The JD(S) has announced its first list of candidates for the elections to Udupi CMC and Karkala TMC.

JD(S) district president Yogish Shetty said that candidates for eight wards in Udupi and five in Karkala have been finalised. The second list would be released soon. the candidates for Kundapur and Saligrama urban local bodies would be announced in two days.

He said Udupi CMC had become a hub of corruption and there was no control over the officials. “The officials do not respond to the woes of the public. There is a disruption in water supply and streetlights are not functioning in Udupi. Even garbage collection is not regular in Udupi. The roads are filled with potholes,” he said.

The following are the JD(S) candidates for Udupi wards: Ramesh Shetty Mudabettu (Mudabettu), K Ramesh Shetty (Sheeribeedu), Rohith Karamballi (Karamballi), Anitha Shetty (Ajjarkadu), Chandrakala Chitpadi (Kasturba Nagara), Jayakar Poojary (Indiranagar), Shashidhar M Ameen (Vadabandeshwara), Areef Gundibailu (Gundibailu). The candidates for Karkala are: Nasir Hussein (Kaje Banglegudde), Umesh Kalotte (Jarigudde Salmara), K P Shivananda (Dana Shale), Mohammed Jubeir (Kabettu) and Sachin Devadiga (Kabettu Rotary ward).
