Trump says India, Pakistan can handle Kashmir dispute on their own

U.S. President Donald Trump said that India and Pakistan could handle their dispute over Kashmir on their own, but he was there should they need him.

Trump has previously offered to mediate between India and Pakistan on the contested Himalayan region of Kashmir.

He discussed the issue on the sidelines of a G7 summit in France with Prime Minister NarendraModi.

PM Modi categorically rejected any scope for a third party mediation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump at G7 Summit says, "All issues between India and Pakistan are bilateral in nature, that is why we don't bother any other country regarding them."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday categorically rejected any scope for a third party mediation between India and Pakistan on Kashmir, saying the two countries can discuss and resolve all issues bilaterally and "we don't want to trouble any third country."

Modi made these remarks while interacting with the media alongside US President Donald Trump, who ahead of his meeting with the prime minister had said that he will discuss the Kashmir issue with him on the sidelines of the G7 summit in the French town of Biarritz.
