Australia were threatened a bit by the lower order hitting but hung on to kill the contest

Pakistan show dual personality traits to end up losing

Must be said that Pakistan lost more than Australia won. The top order, other than Fakhar, were in fine nick, especially Babar Azam, who played some classy shots. Imam got himself a fifty but could not continue, him and Azam getting out to shots which can easily be termed a brain fade.

Hafeez played well before holing out to a full toss from skipper Finch and from there on, it was a procession of wickets pretty much as Pakistan lost four in quick time. Hassan Ali played an entertaining cameo while Wahab Riaz hit a few lusty blows to scare Australia, but they got him through DRS. The last two wickets folded quickly and Australia made it through after a tricky phase towards the end.

An important match for both sides

Australia and Pakistan may not be as big a rivalry on the international stage, but it will certainly be a competition between equals today because you cannot really pick a favourite. Pakistan prevailed over England, and while that was last week, the performance will give them a ton of confidence.

Australia lost to India, not by a huge margin, despite Warner's slow innings and will look at this game as a means to get some momentum back to carry later into the tournament. You can read more of our preview here.
