Australia finish second on the table

What a brilliant game we witnessed to the group stages. Perfect way to end it. It was an enthralling match from start to end. South African openers started well, hitting 73 in the first powerplay before losing their wickets. Skipper du Plessis and Rassie van der Dussen then shared a massive stand, the former making a hundred, while the latter almost made one, to take them to 326.

Australia started poorly, losing Finch and Smith early, as Khawaja retired hurt in between with a hamstring tear. Stoinis hung around for a while with Warner before being run out by a smart piece of work from de Kock. The keeper then took a blinder to send Maxwell back but this is where the Aussie fighting spirit came to the fore.

Carey joined Warner and together they scored quickly, the latter getting his third hundred in the process. The game looked to be Australia's before Pretorius returned and struck first ball, removing Warner courtesy a great catch from Morris. Cummins then perished quickly before Morris got the big wicket of Carey after he had started whacking the spinners.

Khawaja then walked out despite being injured, and him and Starc hit a few lusty blows to raise hopes for the Aussies but Rabada prised them out in the penultimate over. Phehlukwayo then held his nerve in the final one to seal the game.

We now enjoy a two-day break from cricket, before returning for the first semi-final between India and New Zealand on Tuesday. Do join us then, till then, look back and reflect an amazing month this has been. Goodnight!

Aus 315 (49.5 overs)

Last over and the Aussies need 18 with their last batsmen out there. Phehlukwayo to bowl it, smart decision to not give any pace to them

49.1 Phehlukwayo to Behrendorff, 3 runs, angled across on a length, helped over short fine leg, backward square does superbly to save one

49.2 Phehlukwayo to Lyon, 1 run, slower short ball wide of off, punched to deep cover

49.3 Phehlukwayo to Behrendorff, 2 runs, that is the game! Slower full ball wide of off, Jason launches it down the ground, Morris picks it up and throws to the keeper, may have caught him short here. Oh no, he has made it in. Well run!

49.4 Phehlukwayo to Behrendorff, 1 run, slower length wide of off, hit to long off again, no chance for a second this time round

49.5 Phehlukwayo to Lyon, OUT, that's the game! Lyon went for the big shot on this length ball, it is a massive boundary though, and deep mid wicket takes a well-judged catch

Aus 308/7 (49 overs)

48.1 Rabada to Khawaja, OUT, big wicket again! Shuffles so far across, he is past the tramline, picks the low full toss from there and looks to scoop, almost came off but it just deflected the bails off the stump. KG has a smile, knows it is a lucky wicket

Khawaja b Rabada 18(14)

Jason Behrendorff walks out to join his senior pace partner

48.2 Rabada to Behrendorff, 2 runs, quick bouncer, Jason somehow fends it off, he ran after seeing Mitch, Morris broke the stumps at the bowler's end, and Faf saves it from going to the boundary. Extra run comes anyway

48.3 Rabada to Behrendorff, 2 runs, outside edge to third man, and they run two

48.4 Rabada to Behrendorff, 1 run, to long on now. Well done to get Starc back

48.5 Rabada to Starc, OUT, what a ball under pressure! KG delivering when it matters. Goes round the wicket, and bowls a quick length delivery at the stumps, straight as possible, it clatters into the stumps

Starc b Rabada 16(11)

Nathan Lyon is the last man in

48.6 Rabada to Lyon, 2 runs.
