ICC World Cup WI vs BAN Highlights: Bangladesh secure easy win over insipid Windies

They were all over the place with the ball and paid the price for it

Shakib leads the way yet again

What a statement this is from Bangladesh. Faced with a mammoth target to chase and they achieve it with more than 8 overs to spare. Shakib Al Hasan continued his stupendous form with his second consecutive century, and never really looked in trouble. There was a brief period where they lost Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim quickly but Liton Das ensured there was no more damage. The diminutive keeper-batsman, making his first appearance at the World Cup, shared a huge 189-run stand with the senior statesman to take them to victory. He ended up with 94 but surely deserved a century too.

The Windies on their part were horrible with the ball in hand. They kept bowling short and everyone of the batsmen dealt with it easily, cutting and pulling and hooking with absolute ease. Holder had to deal with Russell's creaky knees giving way now and then and also Gabriel going off the field once. He had to shuffle around his bowling a lot, even turning to Gayle once for a desperate breakthrough. It never came.

West Indies are most certainly out of the World Cup while Bangladesh will hope this win spurs them on to do better things. It has been a pleasure to get you the live updates, do join us tomorrow when England take on Afghanistan. Till then, goodnight!

Ban 322/3 (41.3 overs)

41.1 Gabriel to Liton, 2 runs, dipping full toss, turned to square leg

41.2 Gabriel to Liton, DOT, goes over the leg stump as Liton shuffled across and looked to help it away

41.3 Gabriel to Liton, FOUR, short and helped to fine leg, very apt that the winning runs are hit off a pull.
