Mizoram CM defeated, MNF inch closer to majority

According to results declared till 1pm, MNF already won 12 seats and was leading in 10 others and Congress was leading only in six seats. Independent candidates have already got five and was leading in four other seats.

MNF surging ahead in Mizoram with leads in 21 of 40 seats

The Mizo National Front (MNF) is surging ahead having a lead in 21 of the 40 seats in Mizoram Assembly while the ruling Congress is trailing way behind, according to trends available at 10 am.

The Congress is leading in six constituencies, Election Commission sources said.

The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) is leading in 10 seats and the BJP is leading in one seat.

Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla is trailing behind ZPM's chief ministerial candidate Lalduhoma in Serchhip.

He is also trailing behind T J Lalnuntluanga of the MNF in Champhai South seat.

MNF leading in 19 Mizoram seats, CM trailing

The opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) is leading in 19 constituencies followed by the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) in eight seats while the ruling Congress is leading in five seats in Mizoram, according to the state election department.

The BJP is leading in one seat in the state that has a 40-member assembly.

Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla is trailing behind ZPM nominee Lalduhoma in the former's home turf Serchhip in the first round of counting.
