Express it the street way

Last Updated 14 January 2019, 09:07 IST

Street style is all about expression, and this season’s trends are influenced by the digital engagement that happens across platforms. People showcase their creative side through various means and being fashionable and trendy is one of that.

Likewise, do it yourself (DIY) is a form of self-expression and is the flavour of street fashion this year. Hand-drawn graphics, typographic prints with self-expressive quotes are the key elements of this trend. Statement prints, doodle art and sporty details make a trendy wardrobe for urban youth.

This trend is being seen in all products like t-shirts, casual shirts and jeans.

Many influences

That apart, independent travel and backpacking are also influencing street fashion in a big way. Millennials are travelling to remote corners of the world and digitally sharing their experiences. Countryside and nature travel have given rise to a new graphic trend, which is influenced by nature and wilderness. Badges and prints capture this trend across various products.

Retro is in

Fashion inspired by 80s dressing is also a key trend since the last few seasons, and will be seen across the street this season also. Denim on denim will be a key fashion trend in both the men’s and women’s range.

The focus will be on natural indigo across product categories — be it jeans, denim shirts or t-shirts knitted with indigo-dyed yarns. Skinny and slim being preferred fits, there will be experiments with washes and various shades of denim. These jeans are often paired together with checks shirts and classic retro top wear. A prominent look will be ankle-length jeans clubbed together with long line t-shirts, where denim truckers and bomber jackets are used for layering to complete the look.

Jack of all styles

Bomber jackets with badges, leather biker jackets and casual blazers will be the products in focus when it comes to outerwear. Shirts crafted out of various yarn-dyed checks, denim and solid dyed shirts with various types of prints and badges. T-shirts and knitwear act as a canvas where ideas and thoughts are communicated in a bold and clear way. Various washes ranging from cleaner to and distressed and vintage form the jeans collection. There is only one rule when it comes to mixing and matching these products, and that is ‘be yourself and express’.
