A good skincare regimen includes a number of different steps — cleansing, toning, hydrating, exfoliating, and so on. That sounds like a lot, but every step is crucial for gorgeous, younger-looking skin. Luckily, with all of the products available now, keeping up with your skincare routine is easier than you think. There’s no fast and easy facial treatment that you can enjoy more than a face mask! Sometimes, all your skin needs is an extra boost to keep it looking and feeling fresh and healthy. Face masks are incredibly beneficial for the skin and allow you to press pause for 10-20 minutes to focus on self-care.

The right ingredients

With evolving technologies, there is also a great evolution in the skincare industry. Now we have multiple options for masking that come with natural and more organic ingredients. Ingredients such as almonds and oats do wonders for sensitive skin; masks having these two are good for dry and sensitive skin as they restore skin texture and barrier function, refining the appearance of pores and comforting irritated, dry skin.

Rose/British rose reveal skin that’s replenished with moisture and visibly smooth with a youthful dewy appearance. Charcoal is one of the most favourite ingredients of millennials. Its mask helps in unclogging pores and absorbing environmental pollutants, oil and dirt from the skin. It is especially beneficial for people with acne and blackheads as it can help to reduce excess oil.

Here are the top five benefits of ‘masking’ for the skin:

• Relaxation: Face masks not only improve the overall appearance of your skin, but they can also be quite therapeutic. Masks infused with aromatic essential oils like mint and rosemary can lift your spirit by stimulating your senses, giving a spa-like treatment at home.

• Deep cleansing: A good facial mask can help in eliminating impurities that hide beneath the top layer of the epidermis. It helps to detox the skin and gives radiant skin with immediate effect.

• Pore unclogging: Masking with a product that contains oats, honey and charcoal helps to remove dirt and absorb excess oil. It also helps to remove dead skin cells. When you remove all the impurities from the surface of your skin, it eventually helps to unclog pores, too. Clogged pores do more damage to your skin as all the dust and pollutants get trapped in your pores, causing blemishes, a flurry of breakouts, or even one giant pimple that will wreak havoc on your life for several days.

• Glowing skin: Masks, especially those with honey in the formulation, can help stimulate blood circulation. The process of drying and the removal of the mask causes an expansion in the blood vessels in your skin. This expansion ensures an overall improvement in skin tone. After masking, you can feel softer and smoother-looking skin and you’ll also notice a radiant glow and a more refreshed appearance.

Masking is must as it helps all of your other skincare products work more efficiently. If you want your moisturisers, serums and night-time products to be absorbed by your skin quicker and deeper, then a face mask is a must.
