BJP workers in C’magaluru celebrate Karandlaje win

Last Updated 24 May 2019, 10:18 IST

BJP workers across Chikkamagaluru district celebrated the victory of BJP candidate from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency Shobha Karandlaje.

Sweets were distributed and crackers were burst to celebrate the victory.

Holding the party flag and a cutout of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party workers took out a procession from BJP office to Azad Park Circle in Chikkamagaluru. They shouted slogans in favour of the BJP and Modi throughout. A few party workers took out a bike rally in different parts of Chikkamagaluru town.

Speaking to DH, BJP leader Devaraj Shetty said, “The results have proved Modi wave in the country. Shobha Karandlaje should work for developing the constituency.”

Mudigere MLA M P Kumaraswamy said, “Voters in the country have supported Modi by ensuring a majority for the BJP. Compared to the previous election, this year, the government is more secure. The BJP workers have worked throughout for the victory of Shobha Karandlaje. The country will become financially strong under Modi.”

Sringeri Taluk BJP President Natesh said, “The BJP was able to register remarkable victory owing to the pro-people works carried out by Narendra Modi in the last five years and due to the tactics of BJP National President Amit Shah.”

Earlier in the day, the BJP workers in Aldur had offered puja to Ganapathi and Deviramma Temples and were waiting for the results with curiosity. Once the trend was known, they started the celebrations by bursting crackers and observing Vijayotsava.

In Sringeri, the party workers gathered at Adishankaracharya Circle to celebrate the victory of Shobha Karandlaje.

As the model code of conduct is in force for the Sringeri Town Panchayat election, the Vijayotsava was observed at Vidyaranyapura panchayat limits by bursting crackers and distributing sweets.

Sringeri MLA T D Raje Gowda said, “The voters have given priority to emotional issues rather than development works in the Lok Sabha election. The defeat of H D Deve Gowda and Mallikharjuna Kharge has saddened me. JD(S) symbol was not properly visible in the EVM. Even an educated person had to struggle to identify the symbol. A few confusions in seat sharing might have affected the coalition candidate in Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency.”

He clarified that the Lok Sabha election results will not have any impact on the ULB election.
