While Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is all geared up to form the government after 17th Lok Sabha elections. Congress and allies United Progressive Alliance (UPA) though shown improvements in seat tally, they are nowhere close to the BJP's number.
In Karnataka, BJP exhibited its best-ever performance to date, as it was able to grab record 25 out of 28 seats. It can be noted that the BJP-backed independent contestant Sumalatha Ambareesh also won, leaving two, one each for coalition government partners Congress and JD(S).

Mallikarjun Kharge: The veteran Congress leader, who was looking for 12th successive election triumph (after 9 assembly and 2 general elections) in Gulbarga has lost. Kharge got beaten by former party member Dr. Umesh G Jadhav now in BJP by a little over 1 lakh votes margin.

Nikhil Kumaraswamy: Despite having a strong political background, Nikhil Kumaraswamy lost Mandya seat to Sumalatha Ambareesh. The former is the son of HD Kumaraswamy, incumbent chief minister of Karnataka and grandson of former Indian prime minister HD Deve Gowda. As per the final count, Sumalatha emerged winner with 1,25,876 votes margin.

Tesjavi Surya: Hardcore Modi follower, 28-year old Surya, the youngest Lok Sabha contestant has registered a thumping victory over Congress BK Hariprasad with 3,31,192 votes margin in Bengaluru South constituency.
Prakash Raj: Popular movie actor Prakash Raj, a known critic of Narendra Modi has suffered a humiliating defeat in Bengaluru Central, which by the way saw a close fight between Rizwan Arshad (Congress) and PC Mohan (BJP). The latter has finally managed to win by 70,968 votes margin.
M.Veerappa Moily: Another Karnataka Congress veteran, Moily suffered a humiliating defeat. BJP's B.N.Bache Gowda defeated M.Veerappa Moily by 1,82,110 votes margin in Chikkballapur.
K.H. Muniyappa: Seven-time Congress MP who was looking record eighth Lok Sabha election win ran out of luck in 2019. BJP's S Muniswamy won the battle by 2,10,021 margin in Kolar.
