With a 320 out of 360, Aditi Ladha became the first girl to secure her place in the top 10 in the IIT-Joint Entrance Examination this year. An all-India sixth rank holder, from the National Capital Region, she managed to create history.

Metrolife caught up with Aditi who is now planning to pursue Computer Science from IIT Mumbai. “It is a dream to go to IIT,” exclaims the young ecstatic student.

For Aditi, this is the reward of her years of hard work, sincerity and her passion for studying. “She has been a very good student throughout school. She used to stand first in all her classes since the beginning,” says Seema Ladha, Aditi’s proud mother.

“Humein umeed thi ki woh top 20 tak ajayegi. (We were hopeful that she would come in the top 20, but, one is never certain since it all depends on the question paper.”

“My parents were over the moon when they got to know my result,” says the brilliant student, and “I am very very happy,” says the young girl, overwhelmed by her own performance. Aditi used to study for about seven to eight hours every day. And in her free time, she used to either draw or listen to music. “Coldplay is my favourite,” says the 17-year old who does not even consider Hindi songs in her list.

So why Mumbai, why not delhi? “Mumbai is the best IIT institution for pursuing computer science. And when she has a good rank, why not?” says Mrs Laddha.

Aditi took a giant leap when she took the decision of staying away from her family for over a year in Kota to prepare herself for the examination. After two years of extreme hard work and determination, her dream of getting into the IIT has come true.

“She is very fond of reading. Saara din kuch na kuch padhti rehti thi,” says Seema.
What about movies? Which one is her favourite? “All these years, I didn’t get the time to see any. Now, I am going to see all of them.” Well, she sure has a long list to catch up with.
