Jagadish Shetty’s Regency Park, situated in Kammanahalli, has a 22-year-old history. Starting off with mainly North Indian and Chinese dishes, the place later added coastal Mangaluru cuisines to the menu. Now, Regency Park is known as an affordable, all-you-can-eat restaurant with a special emphasis on coastal cuisine. The popularity of the place is given, since the love for coastal Mangaluru cuisine, especially seafood, now transcends regional barriers, according to Jagadish.
All the dishes served here have the authentic flavour and are prepared using local spices of the area. Special chillies and other spices are imported from Mangaluru and ground in the restaurant to prepare the food. Of course, coconut and coconut oil are ubiquitous add-ons in these dishes.
Kori Gasi (Kundapura Chicken), kori roti and Chicken Sukkha are among the popular chicken dishes. In seafood, silverfish curry or fry, mackerel, ladyfish, seer fish, pomfret, sole fish and crab are available. Prawn curry, prawn fry and squid dishes are the other options here. You can pair these with Neeru dosa and boiled rice.
An interesting twist has been given to the usual seafood dishes by combining them with other cuisines, thus paving way for the Chinese and Tandoori seafood sections. Fish Chilli and Manchurian are seen in the first segment, while Tandoori seafood includes Fish Tikka, Tandoori Pomfret, mackerel and prawns. Indian breads here include Tandoori and Rumali rotis, chappathi, Kerala parotta, aloo and gobi parathas and varieties of naan. There is a great variety of rice items. Biriyani of all kinds — veg, egg, fish, chicken and mutton — as well as pulav, khichdi, ghee and steam rice are served here. Diners can also choose from noodles, fried rice and sizzlers. A range of mutton dishes served here are also worth a try.
Except seafoods, the price of which varies according to seasons, all other items are charged below Rs 300. The portions are generous and enough for a person.
Regency Park undertakes delivery upto 2 km as well as outdoor catering services. The restaurant opens at 11.30 am and closes at 11 pm.
