A R Rahman was in the city on Saturday to kickstart his ‘One Heart Tour’. The concert was held at Ozone Urbana, Devanahalli, scheduled to start at 6.30 pm.

After waiting for an hour, an interactive session was hosted by emcee Riaz Basha. As he was asking for people to show off their singing talents, Venkataramanan (a member from the audience) from Chennai stole the crowd’s heart with his rendering of ‘Kandukonden Kandukonden’.

A little after 7.50 pm, with thousands of people going gaga, the man of the hour came on stage, and began the show with ‘Nadaan Parindey’ from ‘Rockstar’. He was accompanied by singer Haricharan and Ranjit Barot on the drums.

“Chenaagidhira? (How are you?)” was Rahman’s first question to the crowd after the electrifying performance. This was followed by the popular ‘Mukkabla’ (Kadhalan) that he performed with singer Neeti Mohan. She also captivated the audience with ‘Jiya Jale’ (Dil Se), and her ‘Bhoomi Bhoomi’ (Chekka Chivantha Vaanam) left everyone stunned.

The show struck the balance with a good mix of foot-tapping songs and melodies. While Rahman’s soulful version of ‘Uyire’ (Bombay) left the audience awestruck, ‘Tere Bina’ (Guru) had the crowd singing along.

The fans also cheered on when he performed ‘Dil Se Re’ (Dil Se); noticing their excitement, he asked them to sing a verse.

Many of his latest hits like ‘Aazhaporan Thamizhan’ (Mersal), ‘Mazhai Kuruvi’ (Chekka Chivantha Vaanam), ‘Pullinangal’ (2.0), and chartbusters like ‘Ramta Jogi’ (Taal), ‘Ae Ajnabi’ (Dil Se), ‘Chinna Chinna Aasai’/‘Chhoti Si Asha’ (Roja), ‘Agar Tum Saath Ho’ (Tamasha), ‘Mitwa’ (Lagaan), ‘Taal Se Taal’ (Taal) were performed.

In the biting December cold, A R Rahman and his crew kept the audience engaged with stunning projections on stage.

Who were there?

Ranjit Barot, Bamba Bakya, Harshdeep Kaur, Vijay Prakash, Shweta Mohan, Jonita Gandhi, Neeti Mohan, Haricharan and Udit Narayan were the host of performers.
