Kannada film ‘Devaki’, which stars actor Priyanka Upendra, will have Bengali dialogues in it.

The film was shot in Kolkata. Lohith, the director, told Metrolife, “Often, when a regional film is shot at a different location and background, it still has most of its lines in Kannada. I wanted the film to have a realistic feel, which is why we involved around 30 Bengali theatre artistes for dubbing.” “Around 20 per cent of the entire film will be in Bengali,” he adds. 10 artistes from Kolkata came to Bengaluru to dub for the same. The project also included city-based Bengali theatre group ‘ENAD’.

“Language portrays the culture of a place. We used Bengali in scenes which show the ambiance or other characters. The scenes dubbed in Bengali will be convincing and it will not
be difficult to understand them,” says Lohith. Industry sources say that the film will also be dubbed in Bengali. “Nothing is confirmed yet,” says the director.
