K Venkatesh, a veteran photojournalist, has always been fascinated in capturing the beauty of Bengaluru in a different way. As part of the yearly photo exhibition he showcases every year, this time, he is showing K R Market in a different light — at night. The exhibition is called ‘Play of Light in Darkness at KR Market’.

What’s unique about his pictures is that he’s used the light from vehicles passing by to showcase the different objects and ordinary people moving in the darkness.

“I didn’t mind that some parts of the pictures are distorted as I know that it shows the raw effect of the moment,” he told Metrolife.

Shot over a fortnight, Venkatesh spent his evenings on flyovers and high-storied buildings to capture what he was looking for.

He found that even the presence of stray dogs and cattle made the locale ideal for creative photography with an abstract streak.

He said, “I wanted to capture the true essence of the market area which hasn’t changed much over the years. Yes, the buildings and crowd have grown but the true spirit of people doing all kinds of odd jobs and being busy with their respective work has remained the same.”

‘Play of Light in Darkness at KR Market’ will be showcased at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat from December 10 to December 12, 10 am onwards.
