Fitness is a priority, not luxury, for Bengaluru mom

Bengaluru-based fitness influencer Afreen Khan was crowned the ‘Face of South’ at the ‘Mrs India Earth 2018’.

She says, “It is not just beauty or the way you look. A lot of women from various walks of life participated in this pageant. I was applauded for my physical strength at the pageant.”

Detailing on her journey of becoming a fitness model, Afreen, who had weight issues, says she got into fitness once she started facing problems post the birth of her daughter (now 5).

“My journey of fitness has been inspirational to many women who think that they can’t concentrate on their health and body post-marriage or after becoming a mother,” she notes.

The fitness influencer says that she wasn’t athletic when she was young but was able to break that mental block once she started learning and working towards fitness.

When asked about the fitness trends in India, she opines that fitness is not about how one looks but what they can do with their body.

“Most of them aim for 6-pack abs or a bikini body; the idea of fitness is misunderstood here,” she adds. Apart from working with health and fitness brands, Afreen also trains women and kids.

“I think fitness should be treated as a priority, not as a luxury,” she concludes.
