A display of paintings, chronicling life during the pandemic, is on till March 27.

M G Doddamani, well-known painter featured in the exhibition, is showcasing 28 works. “I did a lot of work during the lockdown,” he says. It was a time, he reckons, when the mind went blank because of uncertainty.

In the ‘The Hand’ series, palms are clasped, as if in prayer. Light and energy are the highlight in the ‘The Golden light’ series. “I meditated a lot during the lockdown. When one meditates, positive energy passes through one and negativity breaks down,” he says. Doddamani likes his works to speak about himself and his surroundings. “Some works depict helplessness and people watching the world through the window, while others show how, during 2020, we lost a lot of elderly people to Covid-19,” he says.

After graduation from Shantiniketan in 1992, Doddamani got a job in designing. He later worked for a gallery and curated many shows.
In 2012, he started working on the ‘Buddha series’, inspired “by the need for peace and harmony”, and the Taliban bombing of Buddha statues in Bamiyan, Afghanistan.
