The musical troupe IDL Blind Band is all set to roll out its maiden audio CD titled Dr Raj Savinenapugalu. The members of this band are visually challenged.

“This is our humble tribute to thespian Dr Rajkumar and due respect to all Kannada song lovers,” say these members.
The CD consists of 14 evergreen songs from Dr Rajkumar’s hit films. The uniqueness of this project is that  the musicians and artists participating in it are all visually challenged.
The project features Samuel Manohar on guitar,  George on rhythm pad, Abhiman and Rajendran on keyboard, Eranna on tabla and dholak, Murthy on flute, Shanmugam on triple congo, Shamanna on bongos and Sridhar, Pasha, Nagina, Narasing, Narasimha Murthy and Shalom on vocals.
The album comprises songs like Naa Naduva Nudiye from Gandada Gudi, Manava Naaguveya from Bhahadur Gandu, Huttidare Kannada Naadalli from Akasmika, Naaniruvude Nimgagi from Mayura, Ninnnantha Appa Illa from Devatha Manushya and Aadisitha Besara Moodi from Kasturi Nivasa.
“It took more than a year to make this project a reality due to financial crisis,” says P K Paul, Founder and Executive Trustee of IDL Foundation, the brain behind these achievements.
“Our goal is to bring out the hidden musical talents among visually challenged and give them a platform to shine through music. Our sincere effort is to bring about a social transformation,” says a band member.
According to all the musicians and P K Paul, this project was successful because of the encouragement, support and guidance of B K Shivaram, Gururaj and Velu. Fifty per cent from the sales of the CD will go towards the benefit of unemployed special people. People are requested to support the cause.
