Riaz Basha, RJ, voice-over artist and anchor, has hosted several shows in many languages.
From having been an RJ at WorldSpace and Big FM, he has shared the stage with the who’s who of the world. He has bagged many awards for his skills in compering. Riaz recently hosted A R Rahman’s ‘One Heart Tour’ in Bengaluru.

Music
A R Rahman

“AR Rahman is the man I look up to when it comes to music. Being a fan of all his compositions, the song ‘Chhoti Si Aasha’, counts as my all-time favourite. Irrespective the north-south divide, the song has touched many hearts across the country. ‘Hello’ by Lionel Richie is another favourite. Coming to Sandalwood, ‘Jotheyalli Jothe Jotheyalli’ from the film ‘Geetha’ is another song I admire. It is a proper amalgamation of the singers, composers, lyricists, and the actors. In recent times, I am hooked on to the song ‘Sariyaagi Nenapide Nanage’ by Armaan Malik.”

Inspiration
APJ Abdul Kalam

“I am inspired by a lot of people. My father is an inspiration to me as he had to start from scratch, when he first came to the city. Apart from him, APJ Abdul Kalam inspires me. His life is an open guide to many.
M S Dhoni is another person I draw inspiration from. His humble behavior and hunger to learn more never fails to inspire me.”

Movie
The Wolf of Wall Street

“Being a huge fan of ‘Transformers’, I am waiting for the release of ‘Bumblebee’. Apart from that, I really admire the film
‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, by Leonardo DiCaprio; I want to be like his character in the movie; pumping up my own team, of course, doing everything legally. The last Kannada film I watched was ‘Tagaru’. Ranveer Singh is my favourite actor. Be it his ‘like I care’ attitude, his endless passion for work, the positivity he spreads... everything about him inspires me.”

Books
Chetan Bhagat

“I read when I have free time. Chetan Bhagat is my favourite author. His ‘Five Point Someone’ is my all-time favourite. I don’t think he has outdone himself in any of his other novels. Among the very few international books, I like ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne. I connect with the character. The book has a positive take on life.”

Food
Biriyani

“I could gorge on Chinese food, anytime. Home-made biriyani is another favourite. Having a sweet tooth, I cannot resist desserts. Desserts are something that I can live by, especially the Bengali sweets.”

Travel
Prague

“Being an avid traveler, I have toured many countries. Among all, Prague is my favourite. I love how the place is a blend of old and the new city. Be it the cobblestone pathway, the climate, the famous Charles bridge with endless padlocks... everything about it is attractive. Coming back, I love ‘Namma Ooru Bengaluru’. Anybody would trade cities for Bengaluru’s climate.”
