JOIN USNirup plays undercover cop in ‘Adi Lakshmi...’
The Nirup Bhandari-Radhika Pandit starrer ‘Adi Lakshmi Purana’ is creating buzz on social media after its teaser received 1.1 million views on YouTube, just a few days after its launch. The film, which has Nirup playing an undercover cop, aims to be a family entertainer.
Nirup is very excited about the response to the teaser.
“While we knew that it would create a buzz, we were not sure about the vastness of it. The number of views is surprising. The twist at the end of the teaser is what is gathering so much interest,” he says.
Nirup’s character at the end of the teaser tells his mother (played by actor Tara) that if she wants to meet his love interest, she would have to ask the girl’s husband first. “This has definitely triggered some interest. It’s something unheard of and people are curious to find out more.”
The actor, who was earlier seen in ‘RangiTaranga’ and ‘Rajaratha’, vouches that the rom-com will be a family entertainer.
"It’s not an experimental movie; it is a family film. My character, Aditya aka Adi, is nothing like the other roles I have done. I am very excited,” he says.
The story, screenplay, and direction of the film is by Priya V.
“The writing of the film excited me which is why I took the role. Priya has worked as Mani Ratnam’s assistant and this is her first Kannada film. The way she narrated the film is what convinced me,” says Nirup.
The film includes action scenes. He says. “While the other films had action scenes, they were realistic. None of the scenes were over-the-top. Even the stunt-masters of the film said that they were worried before they met me and were convinced with my performance.”.
“My character lives in a joint family and the chemistry between them is something film buffs will enjoy,” he adds.
Ask Nirup if shares any traits with Aditya, and he quips, “None at all. Aditya is very uptight and too serious about his work. He doesn’t believe in love or parties too much. I am nothing like that. I make time for family and friends and I am quite relaxed in life.”
