‘Sara’, a pla ce famous for its Kerala cuisine in the SG Palya area, is the favourite eatery of college students, professionals and families.
Jijo, the owner, opened this place seven months ago and would love to expand it into a restaurant which will also serve Chinese and Continental cuisine.
The place is a welcome break from all the expensive restaurant chains and serves authentic Kerala cuisine along with a few Indian and Chinese dishes. It is run by Jijo and his four helpers and is open seven days a week from seven in the morning to 10 at night.
The place also undertakes catering and home delivery.
For breakfast, the dishes served are appam, idiappam, puri bhaji, dosa with chicken curry, egg roast and vegetarian curries with chick peas and green peas. For lunch, one can choose from Kerala meals and different types of biryani.
There is also chapati and Kerala porotta with chicken curry, egg curry and different types of fish. The vegetarians can choose between gobi manchurian and a few gravies and peas curry.
Dinner is the same but with a few added items like chicken roast, kababs and chicken curry (Kerala style). A variety of fish items are available for the fish-lovers. Be it fried, curry or steamed, the items are in plenty for the diners.
Special dishes change by the day and for the current season, crab roast is the most famous item on the menu. Says Jijo, “The people here like to eat the Kerala meals and biryanis. For breakfast, people mostly order the ‘appams’. Lunch is the most important meal of the day and weekends have families coming in for dinners.”
Veena, a student, is a frequent diner at the eatery as she loves Kerala cuisine. She says, “I was introduced to this place by a friend and instantly got hooked to the chicken roast.
Even the biryani served here is awesome. I have been living in this area for the last three months and regularly eat chicken roast. The prices are reasonable with a substantial quantity and the food is also very hygienic.” ‘Sara’ is located on 11, 1st Main, 1st Cross, SG Palya.
