The waters of Chitradurga

Namma city Bengaluru is surrounded by many scenic spots that embrace travellers. It never fails to mesmerise one's eyes and heart.

I am a nature lover, rider and a trekker and I recently had an opportunity to visit the Vani Vilasa Sagara dam.

My friends and I planned to visit the dam, which is about 190 km from Bengaluru in Hiriyur taluk of Chitradurga district. Chitradurga, as a district and as a city, has great significance in the history of Karnataka.

My friends and I had organised a ride to Chitradurga a few months back but we couldn't visit Vani Vilasa Sagara dam.

This time around, we organised a ride exclusively to Vani Vilas Sagara dam earlier this month. We were a group of 14 passionate bike riders.

We met at Gurguntepalya, Tumkur Road around 5.30 am, introduced ourselves, listened to a briefing on the riding rules and began our journey towards the dam. I was lucky enough to lead the riders this time.

On the chilly morning, we took the elevated highway and headed towards Tumkur. We were riding at about 80 km per hour speed. We halted at VRL Logistics hotel (around 7.30 am), which is on the Bengaluru-Pune highway for breakfast.

After having a good breakfast and a hot tea, we posed for the shutterbugs with our birds (bikes). After crossing Hiriyur on Bengaluru-Pune highway, we took the service road and rode the 20-km-stretch to Vani Vilasa Sagara dam, which in my opinion, was one of the most amazing rides for me.

We took the entry to the dam from the Traveller's Bungalow side to view the mesmerising backwaters. We couldn't stop admiring the nature at that moment of time.

We spent a couple of hours there not realising the time spent there.

This place is very close to Bengaluru making it easily accesible for those from the city.

We sat down there and recollected our adventure our upcoming rides.

Soon it was time for us to go back. We started our journey as we wanted to reach Bengaluru before 6 pm. We had our lunch enroute and reached the city at about 6.30 pm.

We plan to visit this beautiful place again to enjoy the scenary and to take a dip in the beautiful waters.
