West Asia conflict | 'Only way to end this war...': Iran outlines three terms

The conditions include recognition of Iran's rights, and firm international guarantees against future attacks.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has laid out three terms for ending the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, including guarantees that the country will not face future attacks.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Pezeshkian said the war could end if the conditions are fulfilled.

According to the Iranian President, he conveyed the country's position during phone calls with the leaders of Russia and Pakistan.

"Talking to leaders of Russia and Pakistan, I reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the region," he wrote in the post.

He said that terms to end the war included recognising Iran's legitimate rights and payment of reparations for damage caused by the war.

"The only way to end this war — ignited by the Zionist regime & US — is recognising Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm int'l guarantees against future aggression," he said.

Meanwhile, Iran has warned that war, which has led to disruptions in oil supplies, could destroy the global economy even as US President Donald Trump vowed to "finish the job", saying there was little left for American forces to strike.

As per an AFP report, the statement from Iran came as Tehran on Thursday said vessels passing through Strait of Hormuz "needs our approval or else be targeted".

Oil prices have surged since the conflict began on February 28. The price of a barrel of Brent crude oil, the international standard, jumped above $100 early on Thursday, just days after it spiked near $120 in the latest jolts to financial markets and the global economy as a whole amid the West Asia crisis.

Oil prices shot more than 9 per cent higher as supply concerns worsened with Iranian attacks on commercial shipping around the Strait of Hormuz.
