1993 serial blasts death-row convict Tahir dies in hospital

Tahir Merchant alias Tahir Taklya, a convict in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, died in the early hours of Wednesday.

Tahir, who is lodged in the Yerawada Prison, complained of chest pain around 3 am. He died in Sassoon Hospital while receiving treatment around 3.45 am.

Tahir was sentenced to death by a special TADA court last year during the phase 2 of the trial.
