Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain's daughter Soumya today resigned from the post of advisor of Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics following the opposition's allegation of nepotism, even as her father said she was not being paid a "single penny".

"It was not an executive post. She has resigned as advisor for the mohalla clinics as she was hurt by the controversy over her appointment. She was being mentally tortured despite that fact she has done nothing wrong," he said.

Soumya had been made in-charge of the clinics on an honorary basis. She was also designated as advisor to the health secretary-cum-mission director of the National Health Mission.

Expressing disappointment over allegations of nepotism by the opposition, the minister said Soumya was not being paid a single penny by the government for her work in setting up mohalla clinics.

Defending the government's decision to appoint his daughter as an advisor for the mohalla clinics, the minister said Soumya is also his political advisor and often makes suggestions to him.

"She is a qualified architect and a brilliant student. She recently decided against taking admission in a reputed institution, saying that she was busy for the next three-four months. She was not paid any money," he said.

The AAP government has proposed setting up of 1,000 mohalla clinics across the national capital. So far, 100 such clinics have been set up.

Jain said when he was given the ticket for the Assembly polls, he had gone to meet an RSS leader for his blessing.

The RSS leader had then suggested him not to care about what people said about him, he said.
