Last Updated 19 February 2019, 18:08 IST

After West Bengal and Kerala, firebrand saffron leader and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath is set to storm Odisha.

According to the state BJP sources here, Adityanath would be addressing two public meetings at Bhawanipatna and Khorda in Odisha on Wednesday.

Sources said that the UP chief minister would also pay obeisance at the famous Manikeshwari Temple at Kalahandi before addressing the rallies.

BJP leaders said that Adityanath's visit could give the much needed boost to the saffron party's election campaign in the state, where the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) had been in power for the past 15 years.

''The Gorakhnath Peeth of which Adityanath is the chief, has influence in some pockets in the state....his campaign will greatly benefit us,'' remarked a senior state BJP leader here.

The leader said that Adityanath would be extensively campaigning in the state in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The saffron leader had earlier addressed public meetings at Purulia in West Bengal and also in Kerala, where he had declared that his party would launch an 'Ayodhya' like agitation on the Sabrimala issue.

Before that the UP chief minister had also extensively campaigned in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. His remarks at the election rallies had also triggered controversies.
