The Samajwadi Party (SP) has denied renomination to Praveen Nishad, who had defeated the BJP's nominee on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's home turf of Gorakhpur in last year's Lok Sabha bypoll.
SP president Akhilesh Yadav has nominated former UP minister Ram Bhual Nishad from Gorakhpur. The BJP is yet to declare its nominee from the seat.
The denial of renomination came after Praveen's father Sanjay Nishad, who was the president of the Nishad Party, walked out of the grand alliance and met Adityanath here on Friday.
Sources said that the BJP has offered two seats to the Nishad Party in exchange for its support in Gorakhpur.
