Akhilesh's 'doodhwala' to counter Modi's 'chaiwala'

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday came out with 'doodhwala' (milk man) remark to counter prime minister Narendra Modi's 'chaiwala' slogan.

''You (people) can not make the best tea without milk,'' Akhilesh said after filing his nomination papers from Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat.

Addressing a public meeting in Azamgarh, about 300 kilometres from here, the SP president said that the people of the country had reposed their faith in a 'chaiwala' in 2014 but the latter failed to deliver.

''You had trusted a chaiwala but he could not make good tea....it was because the best tea could not be made without milk....if Modi is a chaiwala I am a doodhwala,'' Akhilesh said.

Accompanied by the BSP general secretary S.C.Mishra, the SP leader launched a scathing attack on the BJP saying that the saffron party only ''fooled'' the people with its ''lies'' during its five-year rule at the centre.

Akhilesh cautioned the people against what he alleged the ''divisive'' politics of the BJP.

He also exuded confidence that the grand alliance comprising SP, BSP and RLD would do well in the LS polls.

Akhilesh's father and SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav had won from Azamgarh in 2014. He had also won from Mainpuri seat but later resigned from there and chose to retain Azamgarh.

In 2014 Mulayam had won by around 63 thousand votes. SP and BSP had together secured over six lakh votes while the BJP nominee had secured 2.77 lakh votes only.

BJP has fielded 'Bhojpuri' film star Dinesh Lal Yadav alias Nirahua from Azamgarh. The seat goes to polls on May 12.
