Amaravati: Naidu lays foundation stone for govt offices

Determined to go ahead with the construction of two flagship projects without the active participation of the indifferent centre, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Chandrababu Naidu laid foundation stones for the Rs 18,000 (estimated cost) cr Kadapa Steel factory in Kadapa and Secretariat and HOD building complex comprising of five tallest towers in Amaravati, the state capital.

Expected to bring a major change in the lives of people of backward Rayalaseema region, Naidu laid the foundation stone for the steel plant to be built by the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation in an extent of 3,300 acres of government land at Kambaladinne of Mylavaram block of the Kadapa district.

Addressing a public meeting, Naidu said a golden chance was misused by the then YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s government when vested interests who were given 12000 acres of land and were advanced loans to a tune of Rs 1200 crore dug up iron ore worth Rs 33,000 cr in the name of Brahmani Steel Plant. “The Media organizations of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy were established with the help of that money,” Naidu said.

Permanent Secretariat Complex

In yet another important event in the morning, Naidu laid the foundation stone for prestigious Andhra Pradesh secretariat towers raft in administrative capital at Kondamarajupalem of Rayapudi village in Guntur district this morning. The entire volume of 11000 cubic meters of concrete per raft has to be poured nonstop at a stretch of 72 hours to set a record in the country.

Thanking the farmers for their generous attitude in offering 33000 acres of land for capital development, the Chief Minister said the secretariat and HOD building complex will comprise of the five tallest towers in the country with a height of 225 meters with 40 floors in four towers and 50 floors in the fifth tower. He said the complex was designed for 16,000 employees and 10,000 visitors with world-class corporate office amenities.

The Chief Minister said that the secretariat complex would be constructed in 41 acres to accommodate 145 departments. The built-in area is around 1.3 lakh square feet with parking facility for 4000 cars. The Chief Minister said for the first time in India, a unique structural system called diagrid without the conventional columns to provide column-free interior space was used. The cooling system will provide 20,000 tons of refrigeration.
