Ten days after a policeman was attacked by legislators on the Vidhan Bhavan premises, another man in kakhi was assaulted late on Tuesday night by sons of a former Nationalist Congress Party corporator in Dhule town.

A lookout notice has issued by Azad Nagar Police in Dhule, and other nearby areas against brothers Devendra and Bhushan. Dhule’s incident is second such attack on a policeman by politicians.

Last week inside the premises of Vidhan Bhavan, a group of legislators attacked API Sachin Suryavanshi for fining a MLA over breaking speed limit on the Bandra-Worli Sea-Link Bridge.

Following a public furore, five legislators were suspended and two of them taken into custody. Suryavanshi later was also suspended pending inquiry into the incident. Patil had responded to a call about a fight between two groups during Holi celebrations on Tuesday night.

“He (Patil) went there in response to the call and tried to control the situation. Devendra and Bhushan attacked Patil from behind with a sword,” an official from Dhule’s Azad Nagar Police Station said. Patil is attached with the Azad Nagar Police Station.

The condition of Patil who is in ICU is said to be stable. Five legislators were suspended and two surrendered, following which they were released on bail on Monday.
