Anti-KNPP panel to submit report to centre, state

Last Updated 27 November 2011, 14:10 IST

"We have members in our committee who have done extensive research and found that the report given by the central (expert) committee does not even have their facts right," Dr V Suresh, National Secretary of People's Union for Civil Liberties and a member of the panel set up by the People's Movement Against Nuclear Energy told reporters here.

The movement is spearheading the stir against the controversial KNPP.

Another team member Devasahayam called upon former President A P J Abdul Kalam, Central expert committee Chairman A E Muthunayagam, Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Srikumar Banerjee, nuclear scientist M R Srinivasan and Minister of State in the PMO V Narayanasamy to have a face-to-face meeting to discuss issues where they have different viewpoints.

He claimed that the central committee report referred to 2001 census on the number of people living around Koodankulam, while they "conveniently avoided referring the 2011 census which shows an increased number of people living there."
