Soldier killed, another injured in blast along LoC

A soldier was killed and another injured in separate landmine explosions along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Saturday.

A police official said that army's 5/9GR was on a patrol duty in Gogal Dar area when the blasts took place on Thursday night. “Soldier Abishekh Chhetri sustained multiple splinter injuries and was taken to 168 Military Hospital Drugmulla for treatment,” he said.

Similarly, another landmine blast took place near Balbir Post on Friday morning along the LoC in Keran in which Rifleman Nihal Gurang of 5/9 GR suffered critical injuries. He was airlifted to 92 Base Military Hospital Badamibagh in Srinagar, but he succumbed to his injuries.
