Bidhuri’s nomination will be nullified by HC: Chadha

A chartered accountant, Raghav Chadha is AAP's South Delhi candidate, who is pitted against BJP's sitting MP Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress' boxer-turned-politician Vijender Singh. Chandha is AAP's National spokesperson as well as a member of the party's national executive. He spoke to DH's Shemin Joy.

You are one of the youngest candidates in Delhi and you are pitted against one of the veteran politicians of the BJP. What is your expectations?

Look, this election is between Ramesh Bidhuri (BJP) and people of South Delhi. I am insignificant in this election. I am a small man. I don't come from a political family. I don't have money power or muscle power or media power backing me. I personally feel, in order to get rid of goondaism, hooliganism and politics of fear, people will vote. People of South Delhi will win and Bidhuri will lose.

Bidhuri is not the lone candidate. Where do you place Congress in this election?

Congress is irrelevant as far as politics of Delhi is concerned. They are absent. In my constituency, they could not find one candidate from among their cadre and they had to parachute someone.

You have now taken Bidhuri to Delhi High Court also. Why is that?

His nomination should have been rejected at the time of scrutiny itself. He had not recorded in the affidavit that he had an FIR against him. We had raised this issue. During the hearing before the returning officer, he took a stand that he was not aware of the stand. But that is false. This FIR was filed on the directions of a magistrate. Also, during the hearing of a defamation case, Arvind Kejriwal's lawyer had mentioned about this. He was also tagged about this on social media.

Why should one do this?

During election time, he and his party did not want to be known as somebody who has abused people from Bihar. I am sure within 30 days there will be a positive result in my case. This is a textbook example. He has concealed FIR pending against him. Concealment of a criminal case is serious offence a. I am sure his nomination will be rejected as soon as the court looks into the matter. So my appeal to people is that one should not waste their votes on Bidhuri, who will be disqualified anyway. He has lied to the people, to the Election Commission.

BJP says AAP is bringing up cases against Bidhuri and its East Delhi candidate Gautam Gambhir because it has not issued to raise on the ground. Do you agree?

We are fighting on the ground. We will fight politically, we will fight legally also. We will win the political fight as well as the legal fight. I was declared a candidate almost a year ago. I have visited every nook and corner of the constituency. I know the issues of every street. I have met almost everyone in the constituency in the past one year.
