Bihar MLA booked for assaulting engineers

A legislator of the ruling JD(U) has been charged with roughing up an Engineer-in-Chief and asking his bodyguards to thrash the official and the Superintendint Engineer in Bihar’s Saran district.

Engineer-in-Chief Rajeshwar Dayal was taking stock of anti-erosion work along with other engineers when the incident took place at Sitab Diara. “Altogether, six engineers were beaten up by JD(U) MLA Krishna Kumar Singh and his bodyguards at the inspection site,” said one of the victims on condition of anonymity.

“The MLA came to the site and started abusing us. When we requested him not to interfere with our work, he asked his bodyguards to thrash us. Later, he himself joined in beating us,” the engineer complained.

An FIR has been lodged against the legislator and his two securitymen.
