BJP ignoring senior leaders: Rahul

Last Updated 01 December 2018, 12:34 IST

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said that he was the first one to call on former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee when he came to know about the latter’s hospitalisation.

Rahul also said that former deputy prime minister L K Advani is being ignored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Congress president said he has deep respect for both the leaders despite the fact that his party was politically opposed to them and the BJP.

“Everybody knows who is the guru of Modi ji…(it is) Advani ji. But the Prime Minister doesn't accord him respect even at official functions. It's me who follows protocol and always be with him during the functions," Rahul said, adding: “We fought against Advani (in elections)…but I give respect to him…this is our ideology.”

On Vajpayee, he said he was the first to visit the hospital after knowing about his health condition. “Vajpayee ji has worked for the country…this is our culture,” he said.
