The Chhattisgarh chief electoral officer (CEO) has come up with another activity to increase voting percentage in the upcoming Assembly polls in the state, this time its Voter Selfie Zone.

Chhattisgarh CEO Subrat Sahoo while briefing the media on Tuesday announced about the Voter Selfie Zone and said that five best selfies will be selected from each Assembly constituency and would be given awards.

The Voter Selfie Zone will have one 20x30 size poster installed outside each polling centre but within the premises, it will be installed at an height of 4-5 feet so that each elector can stand before it and take the selfie, he said.

Talking about the competition he said, the selfie has to be taken with the inedible ink mark on the finger. After clicking the selfie, it has to be posted with the electors EPIC number and Assembly constituency number on their Facebook and Twitter account with a hashtag #Chhattisgarh and also tagging in @CEOChhattisgarh.

In a bid to encourage people to come to the polling booth and create awareness, the CEO on August 1 had started drawing/sketch, photography and slogan writing competition, whose last date for entry is November 7, on the social media Facebook page of the CEO.

The winner for the competition would be selected based on the ‘Milestone achieved’ and the results will be declared after the election process is completed.

Sahoo also said that a promotion is being also organised on Facebook.

Voters can add ‘Chhattisgarh Votes’ frame onto their Facebook profile pictures.

Even, WhatsApp sticker has also been issued.

Sahoo said that for first time Chhattisgarh Tracking of Poll Process Software (C-TOPPS) is being utilized for distribution of polling materials and tracking the polling teams, starting from the starting point to their return.

The presiding officer, root incharge and sector incharge have been given a mobile application, while a dash-board has been provided for district and state level monitoring, he said.

The presiding officer would provide mock-poll process, actual time of commencement of polling, status of polling every two hours, submission of election materials at collection centre and others can provide real time status. This can help to tackle any emergency, he said.
