Cong, AAP conspired to malign BJP

Last Updated 07 February 2014, 19:32 IST

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi on Friday alleged that the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were working together to divert attention of voters on issues which embarrass them.

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore, Lekhi charged that the two parties were helping each other by raking up parallel issues.

“For instance, on January 30 when Telangana Bill was rejected by Andhra Pradesh Assembly, causing embarrassment to the Congress, which has a majority in the state, AAP chief Aravind Kerjriwal came out with his corruption list,” she charged. Kejriwal’s corruption list was not based on facts and selectively targeted BJP leaders, she alleged.

Lekhi alleged that when reports emerged that one of the three alleged middlemen in the helicopter kickbacks scandal had reportedly taken Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s name, one of the AAP MLA came out with allegations that he had been offered Rs 20 crore by the BJP.

Insisting that the AAP and the Congress were working in tandem, the BJP spokesperson said it was a ploy to divert the attention of the voter from issues like price rise and corruption. “There should be an investigation into the two parties’ Jugalbandhi,” she said.

She dubbed Samjhauta blast accused Swami Aseemanand’s interview, which includes revelations about the role of RSS in terror activities, “fictitious” and “politically motivated.”
