Cong speaking in Imran's language: BJP

Last Updated 21 February 2019, 19:28 IST

In the wake of the debate over the Pulwama tragedy, the BJP on Thursday revived its nationalism narrative to browbeat the Congress, terming Jawaharlal Nehru the "creator" of the Kashmir problem and accusing the party of weakening the morale of Armed Forces and the Nation.

While the comment on Nehru was made by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from Delhi, BJP chief Amit Shah trained guns on the Congress from Andhra Pradesh saying, "You don't need to teach us nationalism. There's nationalism in every drop of our blood."

Prasad said the tone and tenor of Congress spokespersons were similar to that of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

"The style may be different but the content of what Pakistan Prime Minister spoke yesterday and Congress spokesperson spoke today bear a striking resemblance. There must have been happiness in Pakistan over the remarks of the main Opposition party in India," Prasad said, addressing a press conference at the BJP national headquarters in Delhi.

Sunil Deodhar, national secretary of BJP, trained guns on Chandrababu Naidu saying the Andhra Pradesh chief minister is "more aligned towards Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan". He said Naidu has more trust in Imran than on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prasad said that at a time the whole country is standing together over the Pulwama tragedy, "the true face of Congress party has appeared, seeking to weaken the morale of the country."

He also rubbished the Congress attack that Modi is is inaugurating rallies and events when the nation is gong through a crisis, saying for "the sake of terrorists' game plan, India will not stop, it should not stop."

He said it shouldn't look like India has come to a standstill after the terrorist attack.
