Congress' votes got transferred to AAP: Swamy

Last Updated 09 February 2015, 04:25 IST

As all the exit polls have predicted a majority for the AAP in the Delhi Assembly polls, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy today said that Congress' votes got transferred to the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.

"There are too many local reasons (in Delhi assembly election)... However, those are merely predictions of exit polls. We are yet to see the difference between percentage of vote-share... But the main reason was that Congress was nowhere in the scene. Congress' votes have been transferred to AAP," Swamy said during his visit to a college at Ankaleswar town in Gujarat.

He added that during the 1971 and 1980 Lok Sabha elections Congress won majority under the leadership of Indira Gandhi, however, the same party had to face defeats in Delhi local body polls and Tamil Nadu assembly polls respectively.

All the exit polls had predicted a majority for the AAP in the Delhi Assembly elections with one of them giving it as high as 53 seats in the 70-member House. The results would be out on Tuesday.
