Corporates rush to vaccinate staff, dependents

This vaccination drive is in line with the ongoing government guidelines

Even as the government is struggling to expand its mass Covid-19 vaccination programme, several corporate houses are rushing to vaccinate their employees and dependents free of cost.

This vaccination drive is in line with the ongoing government guidelines.

Already, some of the major Indian companies like Reliance Industries, TVS Group, Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, Chalet Hotels Ltd, Myntra & Flipkart, NxtGen Infinite Datacenter, a datacentre and cloud-based services provider, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank have announced that they will bear the cost of vaccinating their employees aged 45 & above with co-morbidities and their immediate relatives.

“With the Covid-19 vaccine finally here, we have decided to cover the vaccination cost of more than 600,000 people in India, including 200,000 full-time employees and their dependents in the country, as well as 50,000 contracts, support and security personnel with their family members,” Cognizant India Chairman and MD Rajesh Nambiar said.

Chalet Hotels, which operates hotels in key metro cities in India announced that it would provide vaccine to all its employees across the country.

TVS Group said it would extend free Covid-19 vaccination for about 35,000 employees eligible as per the government guidelines. The group companies such as TVS Motor Company, Sundaram Clayton Limited, TVS Credit Services Limited, Sundaram Auto Components Limited and Emerald Haven Realty Limited are covered under the vaccination drive. In the initial phase, the vaccine will be made available to all employees and their families above the age of 60 and 45 years or older suffering from certain medical conditions, R AnandaKrishnan, Executive Vice President - HR, TVS Motor Company said in a statement.

India’s second-largest IT services company Infosys said it is looking at partnering with healthcare providers to vaccinate its employees and their immediate families as eligible under the guidelines given by the government of India and as per approved procedures. “Infosys will cover the vaccination cost for the employee and immediate family as part of our focus on health and wellness,” Pravin Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Infosys said.

Homegrown e-commerce major Flipkart has decided to cover 100% of the vaccination cost for all Flipkart and Myntra employees and three dependents. “You can choose to be reimbursed for the costs of the vaccinations or get them free of charge at a partner hospital,” Flipkart said in a communication to its employees. The company is also enabling its employees to avail of a day’s leave to manage the vaccination process.

HDFC Bank has announced that it will sponsor the inoculation of over 1 lakh employees of the Bank and their immediate family members against coronavirus. The bank will reimburse the vaccination cost for the two mandated doses.

Collabera Technologies has initiated a Covid-19 vaccination drive for their employees. The firm said it will bear the cost of over 5,000 employees and their spouses.
